New! Attendance Support Worker

New! Attendance Support Worker
by Kerry - Friday, 16 February 2018, 5:00 AM

Heather von Kintzel is the new Attendance Support Worker at Riverside Education Centre, Elmsdale District School and Enfield District School. The Department of Education and Early Childhood Development has hired Attendance Support Workers to assist students and families experiencing challenges arriving on time or getting to school regularly. Regular school attendance helps our children be ready and well equipped for the next grade level, the next school year, post-secondary studies, and the work world.

If a student misses one day per week, that adds up to 40 days per year or 21% of the instructional year. It adds up quickly. A student who misses 15 minutes per morning due to late arrival misses 1 hour and 15 minutes of their week (5 instructional hours per month – or the equivalent of two full weeks of the school year).

We welcome you to contact our Attendance Support Worker, Heather von Kintzel ( or call 902-758-4660 to discuss potential strategies for improving attendance and late arrivals.
